The trapdoor spider is a smaller cousin of the funnelweb. The venom is not so powerful, and slower acting. Still, it was a frightening time. The spider crawled into my shoe which was left outside overnight - it was probably flushed from it's burrow by the rains. Being squashed into the toe of the shoe by my foot, and seeing as I was wearing thick socks, it only got one fang into me, and didn't inject any poison. Another cat-life gone...
